Welcome to share memories and village stories from the history of Kälviä, Lohtaja and Ullava and to hear about author Ville Eerola’s forthcoming book!
PhD Ville Eerola has studied the eventful history of the three former municipalities, from the crop failures of the 19th century to the municipal merger of the 2000s. Years of research in document and newspaper archives, as well as with other source materials, will soon be brought together in a book on the history of Kälviä, Lohtaja and Ullava from 1865 to 2009. The area’s active local heritage work is reflected in its extensive local collections, alongside which the public’s own memories, stories and village tales are also needed.
At the open public event, Eerola will talk about his work as a researcher and writer and about the forthcoming history book. The audience is invited to contribute to the book with their own memories and village stories.
The event is in Finnish, open to everyone and free of charge. No advance registration is required. The event is organized by Museum Services / the City of Kokkola’s History Working Group and Library Services.
