Jaksaa jaksaa! Kämpa på!

25 April–16 October
Exhibition Hall
Pitkänsillankatu 28
Open Tue–Sun 11 am–4 pm, Thu 11 am–6 pm

Jaksaa jaksaa! Kämpa på!
takes visitors on a journey from the peak moments of competitive sports to the quiet dedication of background forces, the joy of everyday exercise, and the landscapes of movement – along trails, across fields, and into the stands.  K.H.Renlund Museum’s most dynamic exhibition of 2025 dives into the rich cultural history of sports and physical activity in Kokkola. Through research, stories, and memory-laden objects, the exhibition traces the layered history of local sports and movement – a history driven by a familiar rallying cry: jaksaa jaksaa, kämpa på  keep on going!

The exhibition is produced by K.H. Renlund Museum in collaboration with the City of Kokkola’s Sports Services and local sports clubs. Curated by Erik Erik Engberg and Anna Katriina Puikko.

Fortune Favours The Brave

Permanent exhibition
Pedagogy, Pitkänsillankatu 28

Open Tue–Sun 11 am–4 pm, Thu 11 am–6 pm

Fortune Favours the Brave offers glimpses and perspectives into the colourful history of the City of Kokkola, where bold and enterprising locals take center stage. The storytellers of the exhibition include both long-established Kokkola families and newcomers to the city.

The exhibition is built around themes that give voice to materials drawn from the museum’s collections of objects, art, and documents: pioneers, rescuers, defenders, builders, artisans, and entrepreneurs. Visitors are invited to pause and immerse themselves in everyday scenes of the city: a stroll down Isokatu, a visit to the pharmacy or hardware store, a day’s work at the sewing machine or boatyard.
