Join us for Kokkola’s Summer Opening at the Museum Courtyards on Saturday the 6th of June!
The day begins at the Museum Quarter with a family-friendly programme from 11 AM to 2 PM. Visitors of all ages can enjoy workshops, circus activities and exhibition experiences.
The Summer Opening continues in the courtyard of Roos House from 5 PM to 8 PM. Short guided tours in the Roos House. On the courtyard, there is pizza and coffee for sale to enjoy along with a variety of live performances on the stage. The event is free of charge.

The event is organized by Kokkola city’s culture and museum departments.
Museum Quarter 11 AM–2 PM
Pitkänsillankatu 26-28, Kokkola
The exhibitions in Kieppi and the Exhibition Hall are open from 11 AM to 4 PM.
Additionally, Vohvelikahvila is open from 10 AM to 6 PM.

An open circus workshop for all ages, where you get to try out various equipment for yourself with the guidance of a circus artist. Duration 1,5 h.

In this creative workshop children get to be inspired by the exhibitions in Kieppi and produce their own artwork. By the end, unique frames for the artwork are constructed using natural materials. The workshop is suitable for children of all ages, and adults are welcome to partake as well!

The summer at the Exhibition Hall is filled with the sweet glass sculptures of Paula Pääkkönen. Visit the Candy Day -exhibition and be captivated by artworks inspired by sugary treats. In the workshop you get to create your own equally sweet postcard!

Come sing together with the accompaniment of Ykspihlajan Ukuleleorkesteri! A feel-good singalong event is held in Vohvelikahvila, situated in the middle of the Museum Quarter. In case of bad weather, the event will be canceled.

Roos House 5 PM–8 PM

A pizza car and a coffee stand are attending to guests at the Roos House courtyard for the whole afternoon!
Hungro Pizza from Kokkola bakes neapolitan-style pizza out of fresh, homemade and long-leavened dough for customers.

Neristan Coffee Roastery is a small, local coffee brewery that provides quality artisan coffee for all kinds of tastes – from light to dark roast, and from filter coffee to espresso.

Kokkola’s own Wanha Kalle opens the afternoon program with some poetry recitation.

Lenheeti is an acoustic trio that plays cozy arrangements of songs from Finnish artists and bands. From time to time, there may also appear a few original pieces by the trio’s singer among these covers.

sanni-leena, as seen on TV in The Voice of Finland, gets the audience moving – and be moved. You should expect some soulful vocals, jazzy vibes, and groovy boogie!

Hailing from Kokkola, Helmi Malinen is a renowned circus artist who exceeds not only in hoops and aerial acrobatics, but also in fire breathing.
Vortex is a rhythmical and visually impressive performance, which combines fluid movement with technical prowess.

One of the best-known names in Finnish reggae, Raappana, invites the summer in to the city and to the hearts of the audience!
Raappana, ever since his debut in 2007, has released one mixtape and five studio albums. The greatest hits from his discography have been Maasta maahan, Kauas pois, and Chilii, featuring Sini Yasemin. Chilii was one of the most streamed domestic songs of Summer 2016 in Finland.
Raappana’s latest release from February 2024 is Kipinä takas EP, for which he is currently touring around the country.
Aside from his personal discography, Raappana has produced songs with some of the best-known artists in Finland, and has featured in music by JVG, Asa, Jukka-Poika and Nopsajalka – to name a few.
