Delegations and councils

Delegations and councils are elected bodies appointed by the city board. Meetings are arranged as necessary.

Decisions about councils and delegations are generally made separately at the beginning of a new council term.

  • The Council for Cultural Diversity began its activities based on the city board’s decision on 21.12.2015. The Council for Cultural Diversity’s task is to promote the integration of ethnic groups in the city of Kokkola. The council follows up on issues related to the cultural diversity and the ethnic relations of groups living in the city, promotes good ethnic relations and makes suggestions about, takes initiatives for and gives statements in matters related to the above.

    The Council for Cultural Diversity works with the aim of improving the welfare of those who have come to Kokkola from other cultures by promoting understanding between cultures, by encouraging immigrants to have a social impact and by introducing in the city’s administration business methods and methods with the help of which immigrants’ integration in Finnish society is facilitated.

    The Council for Cultural Diversity consists of members with an immigrant background, office holders from various sectors and a representative of the city board. The council is elected for a two-year term.

    The council can also cooperate with external organizations and persons connected to the work with cultural diversity.

    The council gives the city board an annual report on its activities in which it describes the activities of the previous year and the results achieved through it.
