Anders libraries upgrade their library system – temporary interruption to library services

Due to the implementation of a new library system, there will be an approximately two-week temporary interruption to library services.

  • All library services, including borrowing, returns, reservations, and self-service will be temporarily unavailable 21 May – 2 June 2026.
  • The Anders Finna online library will be temporarily unavailable 20 May – 10 June 2026.

The National E-library available during the interruption

Among the libraries’ e-resource services, Cineast, Naxos and PressReader will not be available during this period, as access to these services requires authentication with a library card. The National E-library will remain available throughout the service interruption, as access is based on strong electronic identification rather than a library card.

Please collect reservations and borrow enough material in advance

Closer to the system change, loan due dates will be automatically extended so that they go beyond the service interruption period. Library customers will be reminded to collect their reservations before the temporary closure and to borrow enough materials to cover the interruption.

More information will be provided in May

Some Anders libraries will be completely closed during the service interruption period, while others will be open on a limited basis – for example, with newspaper and magazine reading rooms available at certain times. Libraries will provide more detailed information about opening hours and available services through their own communication channels in May.  Information regarding Kokkola City Library will be published on the website kokkola.fi/en/leisure/library/, as well as on Facebook (Kokkolan kaupunginkirjasto) and Instagram @kokkolankaupunginkirjasto.

The Anders libraries – Halsua, Kannus, Kaustinen, Kokkola, Lestijärvi, and Toholampi – will introduce Quria, the latest library system by Axiell Finland Oy, in June. The change is due to limitations in the current system and the need to further develop library services. Quria supports the latest national and international library standards and is currently in use in several libraries across Finland and Europe.
