    All the local sports clubs also organise hobby and junior activities, which are easy to participate in. Annual sporting events are also visible on the streets.

    Hermes 

    Kokkolan Hermes is an ice hockey club that play in Mestis, the second-highest ice hockey league in Finland. Hermes also organises junior activities with a total of 11 teams for different age groups. Juniors interested in ice hockey can get an introduction to the sport via the club’s Leijona-Kiekkokoulu ice hockey school, for example.

    Nibacos 

    Nibacos is Kokkola’s largest floorball club. In addition to playing in the Suomisarja league, the club has approximately 600 members participating in activities ranging from club operations to junior teams.

    Tiikerit

    If you want to see some top-class volleyball, look no further than one of Tiikerit’s games. In addition to playing in the Mestaruusliiga league, the club actively organises junior activities.

    KPV

    There’s no better way to treat football fever than attending KPV’s matches. The men’s team of the club plays in Ykkönen, the second-highest football league in Finland. KPV is also the area’s largest junior club with approximately 500 young footballers in its teams.

    KPV plays its home games at Kokkolan keskuskenttä (Urheilukatu 20). You can redeem the ticket benefit by presenting the benefit coupon at the gate on Anders Chydeniuksen katu on game day.

    GBK

    GBK offers excitement in the form of league matches in addition to organising a range of junior activities and activities for special needs groups.

    The club also organises Finland’s second-largest annual football tournament, the Kokkola Cup. The tournament brings over 10,000 avid junior footballers from both Finland and abroad to Kokkola every year.

  • Theater

    The Kokkola Municipal Theatre operates at Vartiolinna, right next to the city centre. The theatre puts on a wide variety of shows on its two stages from August to May.

    Benefit: You can also enjoy theatre experiences with a theatre card that you can borrow from the City Library. The theatre card has a loan period of one week and can be used to redeem a ticket to a show taking place during the loan period.     Museum

    Kokkola boasts a wide variety of museums, from the inner city museum quarter all the way to Lohtaja and Ullava. In addition to the K.H.Renlund Museum and Kieppi in the city centre, there is also a range of fascinating summer destinations and local heritage museums to discover.     Winner of many awards, the Ostrobothnian Chamber Orchestra (OCO) is one of the best-known Finnish orchestras internationally. Organising a wide variety of concerts in Kokkola, the orchestra also frequently hosts visiting world-class musicians.

  • The City of Kokkola offers library services at the Kokkola City Library, the Library bus and five branch libraries in Koivuhaka, Kälviä, Lohtaja, Ullava and Rahkonen.   • Swimming Centre VesiVeijari offers experiences for swimmers both big and small all year round. The Centre has nine indoor pools for swimming, water aerobics, play and relaxation. In the summer, the bravest swimmers can challenge the outdoor swimming pool’s 80-metre-long water slide. The winter swimming pool is open from autumn to spring.
