What plants do you recognize in the environment?

On Isokari, the different vegetation zones of the land uplift shoreline are clearly distinguishable. On the island’s north-western shore there is a natural land uplift shoreline. For the first time since the last ice age, the land emerging from the sea is first colonised by coastal meadow plants.

Further from the shoreline, shrub-stage plants such as raspberry and redcurrant grow. After the shrub stage, the area is taken over by deciduous trees, namely black alder, birch and rowan. The last ones to come are the conifers, which can already be seen here and there on the island. In Isokari, the ground vegetation is dominated by wood millet, meadowsweet, red campion, male fern, herb paris, and lily-of-the-valley. The abundance of nettles indicates eutrophication.
