E-material

The library offers a range of electronic materials through different services. Audiobooks, e-books and e-magazines are available through the national e-library. To start using the app, you need to have a permanent address in Kokkola or the other Anders municipalities. Use your online banking credentials or a mobile certificate to authenticate yourself. For the other digital services, you only need a library card and PIN number. See more information below. 

 

  • The E-library

    In the E-library, e-books, audiobooks and digital magazines are available in one app. The E-library contains e-books and audiobooks in Finnish, Swedish and English, and also Finnish and Swedish magazines. Some materials are also available in other languages.

    The E-library is so far only available by downloading the app on your phone or tablet. To start using the app, you need to have a permanent address in Kokkola or the other Anders municipalities. Use your online banking credentials or a mobile certificate to authenticate yourself.

  • ePress – local and regional newspapers in Finnish and Swedish (only available in the library)

    Through the ePress service, you can read Keskipohjanmaa, Helsingin Sanomat and dozens of other Finnish newspapers without logging in. The service is only available at the library, either on the library computers or by connecting your own device to the library wifi. Only a limited amount of users can access the server at the same time.

    Naxos Music Library – classical music on-demand streaming

    Naxos Music Library  offers an unrivalled breadth of classical music recordings for on-demand streaming, featuring millions of tracks on major and independent labels, including latest releases added weekly.  Alongside the recordings are supplementary materials such as biographies, liner notes, curated playlists  and a plethora of educational resources.

    Log in with your Kokkola city library card number. Type the number and click the login button. When you’re done, be sure to log out of the service, so the next user can log in. A total of two users can be logged in to the service at the same time.

    Naxos Music Library Jazz – jazz music on-demand streaming

    Naxos Music Library Jazz  offers jazz recordings from different eras. Alongside the recordings are supplementary materials such as biographies and playlists.

    Log in with your Kokkola city library card number. Type the number and click the login button. When you’re done, be sure to log out of the service, so the next user can log in. Only one user can be logged in to the service.

    You can also use the Naxos services on mobile apps.

  • Cineast – movies

    With a valid library card, patrons can instantly stream movies via Cineasterna.se by using a computer, tablet or mobile device.

    Chose your library at www.cineast.fi. Then pick a film and enter your library card number and PIN and then press the play-button. Enjoy the movie. Each film is available for 48 hours.

    Each week, you can watch/borrow four films per week.

  • MOT Kielipalvelu® (only available in the library)

    MOT Sanakirjat® contains a comprehensive selection of general language and specialist dictionaries.

    You have also access to quick and data secure machine translations, and always useful proofreading.

  • Equal access to literature and information for print disabled persons

    Accessibility Library Celia is a state-owned special library that promotes equality in reading and learning. Celia collaborates with libraries, schools and publishers, offering library services and information and advice on accessible publishing. Celia produces and disseminates literature in accessible formats, such as talking books and books in Braille. Celia operates under the Ministry of Education and Culture’s administrative branch.

    You can become Celia’s customer if you are experiencing difficulties reading regular books. The services of Accessibility Library Celia can be used by everyone who find it difficult to read regular books due to dyslexia, illness, disability or similar reasons. You can become Celia’s customer at the library or at school. Libraries at universities can also register Celia customers.

    Celia produces and lends talking books, Braille books and illustrated tactile books, among other resources Borrowing books from Celia is free of charge. Celia produces accessible versions of around 30% of all fiction and non-fiction literature published in Finland in the form of talking books and Braille books. Celia’s selection currently includes 55,000 talking books that are available for listening online.

    In addition to fiction and non-fiction, Celia produces accessible textbooks for comprehensive schools, upper secondary schools, vocational studies and higher education institutions. In addition to talking books and Braille books, Celia produces and loans out tactile books and other resources and provides advice and guidance on accessible publishing.
